Implementation and Evaluation

Evaluation and Research Initiatives

Most of our work to date has focused on the measurement of process pieces (# of people trained, participation rates), experience of training and supervision, consultation request tracking, team-specific needs, and TIC knowledge pre and post training.  Our ability to collect outcome data has been focused on 3 projects: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for staff (staff outcomes); Complex Developmental Trauma pilot (child health outcomes) and Complex Developmental Trauma Parenting Group (caregiver outcomes). We are currently integrating TIC indicators into all of our MHA IT platforms and dashboards.

Research has focused on: finding out how other organizations are implementing trauma informed care (our benchmarking study); conducting an environmenl scan of trauma treatment services for children and youth across Nova Scotia; supporting the Canadian Consortium on Child and Adolescent Trauma as an Organizational Partner (SSHRC Grant); supporting the NS Tuition Waiver for Former Youth in Care Project (SSHRC application submitted) and co-submission of a proposal to CIHR focusing on creating training platforms for health researchers and trainees that includes trauma informed care.
